In the premier entry, we dealt with procrastination and it has led us to the topic for this entry- Promptness. What does it mean to be prompt? It is the exact opposite of everything you’re doing if you experience problems with managing time. When you find yourself derailing from a plan or schedule then it must be apparent that your time management skills are lacking. You probably find it difficult to get things done before they are done, and you most definitely don’t see a point in doing things before the stipulated time.
Time management isn’t as much about getting things done in time for when they should be, it is more about getting them done with enough time to spare, after all isn’t the whole purpose of ‘management’ in order to have more than enough?
Promptness requires doing what needs to be done without delay so basically, it is the opposite of procrastination. Promptness can prove to be a difficult thing to achieve when everything in you is screaming, “You can do it later. You can do it tomorrow."
Getting it done in time and Getting it done on time, is there a difference? Yes, there is!
Getting things done in time means having them ready with time to spare before deadline or when they are due. Getting things done on time, on the other hand, implies that you have things ready only when they are expected to be and never before that time.
Excelling at time management requires you to initiate the habit of getting things done in time, not just getting them done on time. Having it ready in time provides you with the opportunity to correct any and all errors with enough time to spare. In order to affirm your time management skill as a work ethic, make sure you are always prompt in delivery and punctual in attendance.
