
Barrister Solomon Dalung was born on the 26th September,1964 in Sabon Gida, Plateau State.
He had his primary education at the LEA Primary School, Sabon Gida between 1971 and 1977. He then had his secondary education at Government College Keffi, currently in Nassarawa state.
He joined the Nigeria Prisons Service in the early 80’s instead of becoming a military man ; a tradition common to his community.
He enrolled to study Law at the University of Jos in 1991. Due to the fluctuating academic system, he ended up spending nine years before graduating with LLB.
He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja and completed it in 2000 before he got called to the Bar in 2001.
He functioned as the Personal Assistant to Chief Solomon Lar who was then the Adviser Emeritus to President Olusegun Obasanjo. This activity kept going until 2003.
He was appointed Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Area after he concluded his LLM (Masters in Law) program successfully in 2007 and served as the Plateau state chairman of the Local Government Association (ALGON).
He lost an attempt to represent Langtang North and South at the National Assembly.
Dalung believes that governance is a social duty and a democratic leader is equivalent to a human god, having the obligation to decide the fate of his followers.
He was appointed Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports on the 11th of November, 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari
Since he assumed responsibility as the Honorable Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, the empowerment of the unemployed and unskilled youths as well as a capacity building among the skilled ones turned into a key core interest.
He began with zero spending plan for Youth development activities, Barrister Dalung leveraged on his considerable goodwill and administrative experience to manufacture a key association with nearby and global associations and people to accomplish his set goals in accordance with the change Agenda of Presidential Muhammadu Buhari.
He facilitated the empowerment of 13 Plateau Youths Skills Acquisition in Agriculture and Vocational Training in Katsina State in November, 2015.
Barrister Solomon Dalung facilitated the empowerment of 300 Plateau young people made up of 100 females and 200 males whom he nominated and were trained in Vocational Skills through National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Programme from January to March 2018.
