JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Applying makeup to clients using a color palette and different tools such as mascara, sponges, eyebrow shapers, lip liners, brushes, and applicators.
- Working with clients to create various looks.
- Applying makeup for big events including weddings, funerals, holidays, and outings.
- Styling hair according to makeup.
- Setting makeup with hairspray or other setting material.
- Applying touchups as necessary.
- Removing makeup from clothes if some is transferred.
- Using photographs or models for reference when consulting with clients on ideal look.
- Applying prosthetics on movie sets.
- Reading scripts to ascertain the materials and the look required.
- Purchasing cosmetics and applicators from vendors and negotiate prices.
- Ensuring makeup looks natural and well-applied under different lighting.
- Matching skin color to color palettes to determine best looks.
- Teaching makeup application to clients.
- Suggesting skin care routines.
- Working quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Wiping off makeup and reapplying if client is unsatisfied.
- Maintaining awareness of health and safety issues.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as makeup artist.
- Knowledge of makeup and hairdressing techniques.
- Experience in prosthetics and special effects is a plus.
- Technical understanding of lighting, photography, styles, dramatization etc.
- Ability to balance quality and budget restraints.
- Understanding of health and safety rules.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills.
- Artistic personality and manual dexterity.
- Attention to detail.
- Patient with a positive attitude.
