AFRICA IS NOT ONE COUNTRY BUT 55 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE GENERALIZATIONS ABOUT ‘ALL OF THE AFRICA ‘
Africa is the World’s Second largest and second most populous Continent. At about 30.3 million km squared including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of the Earth’s total surface area of 20.4% of its total land area. (Wikipedia.org)
Its Cultural diversity cannot be overstated; ‘It is the wellspring of the human race. It offers its visitors a unique blend of natural wonders, renowned prehistoric cites, numerous and often Sprawling remains of Several of the World’s greatest ancient civilizations, Vibrant Cultures, remote villages and modern cities’.
A study conducted by World Linguistic Agency rated African Countries and chose the best 10 African Countries that speak the English Language ‘Grammatically and Fluently ‘’
Here are the Countries in a Particular Order:
10. Rwanda “Germany colonized Rwanda in 1884 as part of German East Africa followed by Belgium which invaded in 1916 during World War 1” Rwanda is a landlocked (Country that have little or zero water surrounding it )East African Country with a mountainous landscape. It’s known for its National Park that houses Gorillas and golden Monkeys. The Park encompasses 4,507m-tall Mt. Karisimbi 4 other forested volcanoes.
9. Ghana ‘The Gold coast was a British colony from 1867 to its Independence as the nation of Ghana in 1957. The first Europeans to arrive at the coast were the Portuguese in 1471’ A nation on West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea. It is known for its diverse wild life, secluded beaches such as Busua.
8. Malawi In 1891, the area was colonized by the British. ‘In 1953, Malawi then known as NYASALAND, a protectorate of the United Kingdom , became a protectorate within the semi-independent Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland’. This is a Country in southeastern Africa. It’s defined by its topography of highlands split by the Great Rift Valley and Enormous Lake Malawi.
7. Zimbabwe Zimbabwe was colonized by Cecil John Rhodes in the late 1800’s. The Country was named SOUTHERN RHODESIA after him . It’s a landlocked Country in Southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife, parks, reserves and safari areas.
6. Botswana Botswana was colonized by the British. It’s located in Southern Africa, has a landscape defined by the Kalahari Desert and Okavango Delta which becomes a lush animal habitat during the seasonal floods. It’s a home to numerous animals like giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.
5. Zambia Zambia gained Independence in 1964 from the British which was administered by the Rhodes British South Africa Company (BSAC) which showed little interest in the province and used it mainly as a source of Labour. Zambia, in Southern Africa, is a landlocked Country of rugged terrain, diverse wildlife with many parks and safari areas.
4. Kenya ‘The Roots of the colonial history of Kenya go way back to the Berlin Conference in 1885, when East Africa was divided into territories of influence by the European Powers...’ It’s a Country in East Africa with Coastline on the Indian Ocean. It homes Lions, Elephants and Rhinos.
3. Nigeria (Rahhhhhhhhhh! :* ) ‘Nigeria became a British Protectorate in 1901. Colonization lasted till 1960 when an Independence movement succeeded in gaining Nigeria its Independence’ Nigeria, has many natural landmarks and wildlife reserves. One of the most recognizable sites is Zuma Rock, a 725m- tall monolith Outside the Capital of Abuja pictures of the national currency.
2. South Africa “In 1785, the Cape Colony became a British colony before it was returned to Dutch in 1802. Eight years after the second Boer war and after four years of negotiation, an act of the British Parliament (South African Act 1909) granted nominal independence while creating the Union of South Africa on the 31st of May, 1910”. South Africa is a southernmost tip of the African Continent, marked by several distinct ecosystems. The western cape has beaches, lush wine lands around craggy cliffs at the Cape of Good Hope, forest and lagoons along the Garden Route and the City of Cape Town beneath flat-topped Table Mountain.
1. Uganda I knowwww. I didn't expect it either. :) British Colonization of Uganda started around 1860. They gained Independence from Britain on the 9th of October, 1962. It’s a landlocked Country in East Africa whose diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. It houses abundant wildlife like chimpanzees as well as rare birds.
